A genuine Interest in applying artistic works to blockchain, NFTs, Web3, and The Metaverse.
Open Court is exploring how new technology effects various roles within traditional fine art spaces. We are not here to build collections images to be swapped or traded. Artist are here to effectively explore integration into a new technological environment and build an extension to an existing art practice.
Open Court is designed to support individual artists, no collectives or groups
Applicant must show evidence of at least 2 years of a dedicated art practice
Have you been working within a dedicated medium of two years or more?
Applicant must show proficiency in communication of conceptual content
Can you communicate about your work clearly and in depth?
Applicants are NOT required to produce new work to participate.
Applicants based outside Charlotte or its surrounding areas must commit to travel for specific residency meeting dates and exhibition related programming across a period of 60-180 days. Open Court does not provide reimbursement for lodging or travel expenses related to the program. Details on compensation and resources provided can be found below.
Work Samples
Applicants will need to submit a portfolio of work samples to analogueluxury@gmail.com with their completed application for consideration. Please send one file (preferably a pdf) containing atleast 5 images, titles, and descriptions works from your creative practice.
Selection Process
Open Court is schedule to produce 3-5 exhibitions across an 18 month period (2022 - 2023) - Artists will be evaluated by the project curator based on how their work fits into the overall narrative and design of the exhibitions that are created. Exhibitions will vary in size and concept based on the partnerships between Open Court and each individual space. All mediums are welcome to apply however you will need a clear vision on how you plan to translate your works digitally.
Compensation
Artist who are accepted receive a stipend, a budget for the initial cost of minting work (gas fees), and a year long flex membership with Hygge Co-Working in Charlotte, NC. Hygge is Charlotte’s largest independently owned co-working company with four locations across the city including private meeting space and podcasting space. Exhibition cohorts will leverage this space to meet, learn work, and document the process before, during, and after their exhibition.
